Swimming Club – Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Joining the Swimming Club and Nominating for Events

If you're keen to join our vibrant swimming club or nominate for upcoming events, here's a straightforward guide to get you started:

  • Attend a Club Night: Come along to one of our regular club nights, as detailed on our page. These take place every Friday evening from 5pm onwards. It's the perfect opportunity to dive in and experience the club firsthand.
  • Swimming Ability Evaluation: Chat with our experienced coaches during the session. They'll assess your swimming skills in a supportive and relaxed manner, helping to determine the best fit for you within our programmes.
  • Try a Fun Race: To ease into the club atmosphere, participate in our free 15m non-competitive races hosted by SWWSC. These are designed especially for newcomers, allowing you to build confidence without any pressure.
  • Get Set Up with Swim Central: Our welcoming community members will be on hand to guide you through downloading and using the Swim Central app. This is where you'll nominate yourself or your swimmers for future club nights and events—it's quick, easy, and ensures you're all registered for the fun ahead.

What Time Should We Arrive for Swimming Club?

To make the most of your time at our swimming club, we recommend arriving just before 4:30pm. This allows ample opportunity for the race warm-up, ensuring everyone is prepared and ready when the club officially commences at 5pm.

Our sessions are designed to be enjoyable and efficient, so punctuality helps us all dive straight into the fun! If you're new or have any queries about timing, our team is always happy to assist.

What Age Can I Attend Club Nights?

SWWSC welcomes swimmers of all ages to our club nights! We cater to everyone from young beginners aged 4 years and up, who can join our fun 15m non-competitive races, right through to open and masters age groups participating in a full range of events.

Whether you're a budding young swimmer or a seasoned enthusiast, there's a place for you in our inclusive community. Come along and see how we can support your swimming journey!

Is There a Cost for Club Nights?

Yes, to participate in our exciting club nights and become part of the SWWSC family, you'll need to join as a member via Swim Central. This membership covers your involvement and helps support our community activities.

You can easily sign up yourself online at your convenience, or pop along to one of our Friday night sessions—our welcoming team will be delighted to assist you with the Swim Central app, getting you registered for SWWSC and ready for future club nights.

We look forward to swimming with you soon!

Are There Volunteer Requirements?

At SWWSC, our club thrives thanks to the dedication of our wonderful volunteers—it's the heart of what makes our community so special! As a member or parent, you may be invited to lend a hand throughout the season with enjoyable roles such as timekeeping, marshalling, or helping out at the BBQ.

Volunteering is a fantastic way to get involved, meet fellow parents, and contribute to the smooth running of our events. We appreciate every bit of support, and it's all about creating a fun, supportive environment for everyone! If you'd like more details on how to get started, just let us know.

What Should My Child Bring to Club?

To ensure your child has a comfortable and enjoyable time at our club nights, we recommend packing these essentials:

  • Togs (swimsuit): Something comfy for swimming—feel free to choose their favourite!
  • Towels: A couple for drying off after those refreshing dips.
  • Goggles: To keep eyes protected and vision clear in the water.
  • Swim cap: Once you join the club, you will recieve a swimming cap free of charge.
  • Water bottle: Stay hydrated throughout the session—hydration is key!
  • Dry clothes to change into: For a cosy change after all the fun.

Our club is all about making swimming accessible and exciting, so if you've forgotten something, our friendly community is always here to help. We can't wait to see your child splashing away with us!

BBQ Dinner Provided?

While we don't provide a free BBQ dinner, we do offer a delicious selection available for purchase to keep everyone fuelled during our club nights! Enjoy hearty options like beef and chicken sausages, along with juicy beef burgers. For lighter bites, we've got chips, lollies, and chocolates on hand. Quench your thirst with drinks such as Powerade, soft drinks, and water.

It's a great way to relax and socialise after a swim—come hungry and join the fun!

If I Can't Make the Swimming Club, Do I Need to Notify Anyone?

No, there's no requirement to notify anyone if you or your swimmer is unable to attend a club night. We know schedules can be unpredictable, and we're all about flexibility here at SWWSC—just come along whenever it suits you!

We're excited to have you join us when you're able.
